The Taming Of The Shrew (ShakespeaRE-Told)

‘The Taming Of The Shrew’ is a BBC ONE updating of Shakespeare along with ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, ‘Macbeth’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
The action is set in modern times and Catherine Minola is a very successful politician, but she is a very fowl human being - always shouting, frowning, pushing people, swearing worse than a sailor. She is considering leadership if her party, but a colleague suggests that in order for her to be elected she should be married. At first, the thought enrages her because her views on life are very modern, but then she really starts considering a marriage out of interest when she meets Petruchio, a man with a noble title but who has spent all his money. Petruchio is also considering marrying out of interest since he is in need of money in order to keep his family’s house.
The odd thing is that Petruchio and Catherine, or Kate as he adores to call her just to be a tease, are very similar and soon become fond of eachother. But their huge egos get in the way and since they’re both used to always getting their way scandal errupts from day 1! From there it’s all laughs. ‘If she wants a bad marriage, I’ll give her one!!! And then I’m goig to tame the bitch’ Petruchio says to his friend Harry making sure Kate hears him…
I don’t want to say more because I’ll just ruin it for you, but I am sure you’ll adore the movie even if you’re not a Shakespeare buff. It’s simply delicious and you can’t stop smiling , if not laughing!
It’s heartache every moment! Or is that headache? You decide :)! I give it a 10+, 11 even! I’ve seen it 3 times already, 2 times this week, I am addicted!
