The Devil Wears Prada
‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is a savorous movie about the fashion industry and the people involved in it. It is the story of a young, intelligent girl who wants to become a serious journalist and gets the chance to work at the biggest fashion magazine in the country, but she doesn’t fit in with the shallow, fashion addicted crowd and she begins to slowly change until all that matters to her is her job.
She turns her back on her friends, family and love life slowly becoming a slave to her shrew boss who makes her life hell. Ultimately, she loses all the attitude and courage which she was appreciated for and becomes just another copy cat that obeys all rules in order to fit in and be promoted.
Of course, in the end she throws it all away in the last minute to recover her lost dignity and loved ones, which was pretty predictable, although the movie was highly enjoyable. On a scale from 1 to 10 I’d give it an 8. Meryl Streep is delightful in it and to prove it she has an Oscar nomination for the role.
