‘Star Wars III - Revenge Of The Sith’ was the most awaited part of the prequels because it depicts Anakin Skywalker’s transformation into Darth Vader.
Anakin and Obi Wan have to be on mission so long because of the Clone Wars and this has a terrible effect on Anakin’s relationship with his wife Padmé. On the other hand, his ‘friendship’ with Chancellor Palpatine is becoming stronger and stronger because in Palpatine Anakin sees the father he never had and the stability he needs. Anakin is aware of his great talent that is constantly growing and when he sees that the Jedi Council ignores it, he becomes frustrated and angry, and as Yoda said ‘Anger leads to Hate, Hate leads to the Dark Side’
When Anakin finally returns to Padmé she has shocking news for him - she is pregnant. Their marriage was a secret and her pregnancy was sort of a problem, but Anakin is very happy for it and does not wish to hide anymore. The fact that they have to hide their love and the pregnancy add more stress and he becomes more and more distant, cold, weary. When he starts having horrid dreams of her dying in childbirth he decides he needs to find a way to gain more power in order to save the love of his life.
Palpatine has the answer - learning to use the Dark Side of the Force. Palpatine was the evil sith lord the Jedi were looking for, the cause of the war. From this to Anakin’s final fall there’s one small step which he takes to save his wife.
This is my favorite Star Wars episode by far. Just watching the trailer brings back great memories!
